The Thika based Bidco oil Refineries has joined the league of companies who are committed to improving the living standards of the communities and in which they operate. Bidco which is the leading producer of edible oils, fats and soaps in East and Central Africa has over the years channeled a big chunk of its resources towards the development of education throughout the country. Apart from being an organization of choice for most colleges, universities as well as other learning institutions all over the country for students out on education tours, the company also runs an Education Trust Fund from which it gives scholarship to several bright but needy students in and around Thika. This is in addition to hosting several students for attachment almost everyday. The company also supports several charitable organizations and institutions within and around Thika town through donation of its products, services, cash, time and effort from management and workforce. It aims to transform the lives of its people, customers and stakeholders positively through giving back to the society as a way of thanking them for their continued support. The company has shifted to the use of bio-fuel in its biomass boilers to reduce the amount of carbon emissions into the atmosphere.
