Bidco which is the leading producer of edible oils, fats and soaps in East and Central Africa has over the years channeled a big chunk of its resources towards the development of education throughout the country. Apart from being an organization of choice for most colleges, universities as well as other learning institutions all over the country for students out on education tours, the company also runs an Education Trust Fund from which it gives scholarship to several bright but needy students in and around Thika. This is in addition to hosting several students for attachment almost everyday. The company also supports several charitable organizations and institutions within and around Thika town through donation of its products, services, cash, time and effort from management and workforce. It aims to transform the lives of its people, customers and stakeholders positively through giving back to the society as a way of thanking them for their continued support. Bidco takes its employees as stakeholders in the business and treats them as valuable assets. The organization runs several programs directly enhance the benefits given by the company to its workforce like better health care .Most of the employees enjoy medical schemes that also cover their dependants. This has led to increased productivity from the employees. The company has also reduced significantly the amount of environmental pollution as a result of its activities. The company has shifted to the use of bio-fuel in its biomass boilers to reduce the amount of carbon emissions into the atmosphere. This is in line with its environmental policy of ensuring that its activities and processes do not cause diverse impacts to both the human and natural environment. All these are in addition to other worthy initiatives it carries out in conjunction with Thika Municipal council like tarmacking of roads leading to the company and erecting security lights to improve the security of the people around Bidco. The wholly owned Kenyan company has also committed itself to ensure customer satisfaction and adherence to principles of fair Competition by winning customer loyalty and faith through quality products and services as well as ensuring that it competes with its competitors fairly.
