Bidco Oil Refineries Ltd started the year 2009 on high note on the HIV & AIDS front by bringing on board Hope Worldwide Kenya to bolster its efforts in the war against HIV & AIDS, stigma and discrimination at the workplace.

Hope Worldwide Kenya is an NGO that has been involved in the last several years in the prevention and mitigation of the impact of HIV & AIDS in communities and the workplaces. Hope Worldwide is involved in amongst other things reducing  youth vulnerability to HIV & AIDS, promoting gender equity through male involvement and women empowerment, supporting groups of people living with HIV & AIDS, provision of Voluntary Counseling and Testing Services, supporting orphans and children at risk and mobilizing for safe blood donors amongst other things.

Bidco as a company has all along been in the forefront in the war against stigma and discrimination of people living with HIV & AIDS at the workplace. The company is a member of Global Business Coalition (GBC) , an alliance of international companies dedicated to combating  the AIDS epidemic and other diseases like malaria and TB. GBC encourages and promotes the fight against HIV and AIDS by rewarding the companies that promotes best practices in fighting the menace

Bidco also offers health care provision which includes voluntary testing and counseling as well as treatment. Medical support services are offered to all its employees and their dependents. The company collaborates with partners at a local level and international level to bring its programs to the wider community. 

Bidco now intends to go beyond just creating awareness and encouraging members of staff to visit VCT centers to know their status. With the coming on board of Hope Worldwide Kenya, the company will be able to provide vocational training for workers dependants, organize outreach activities, offer tuition and uniform support for workers children, psychological support training to those who are affected, and training of workers beneficiaries on entrepreneurship, provisional of VCT services from time to time amongst other benefits.
