    Recipe Name:   Mandazi
    Cuisine Category:  Breads
    Ingredients:
  • 2 cups Self Raising flour
  • 5 tbsp Bidco Gold Band margarine
  • ½ litre Golden Fry vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 5 tbsp white sugar
  • 1glass fresh milk

  • Method:
    1. Heat the oil in a frying pan on a low flame for five minutes.
    2. In a medium-sized bowl mix the flour together with the sugar.
    3. Blend in the Margarine into the above mixture.
    4. Beat both eggs into the mixture and blend again until a smooth texture is obtained.
    5. Add the fresh milk and knead to form a soft dough.
    6. On a flat surface, roll the dough into a ½ inch thick circle and then cut into desired shapes.
    7. Fry the dough cuttings in the heated oil for about 2 to 3 minutes until golden.
    8. Drain any excess oil and place the Mandazi on an open serving dish.
    9. Serve with a beverage of your choice.
