Health and Safety Policy

 

HEALTH & SAFETY POLICY STATEMENT

Bidco Oil Refineries Ltd. Is committed to using sound and responsible practices to protect the health and safety of all its employees and other persons providing service within the environment in which it operates.

Scope:

This policy applies to all businesses owned and/or operated by Bidco Oil Refineries Ltd. Its implementation is a key management objective and the responsibility of every employee.

Key Principles:

To implement this policy we shall;Conform to the set company standards and applicable national and international regulations governing Occupational health and safety protection. Periodically, assess and quantify the risks to health and safety associated with the various production and business activities and introduce control measures to eliminate, reduce to tolerable risk or conform to applicable legislation and regulations.

Conduct regular audits of our health and safety performance through periodic measurement and review of performance while committing to continuously improve towards achieving the target goal of zero accidents.

Conduct periodic and regular Information, Education and Communication (IEC) sessions and dissemination of health and safety issues to all Bidco employees, contractors, personnel and interested parties in order to induce a positive corporate safety culture and best practices.

Require each employee to take responsibility for the health and safety performance of themselves, fellow employees, customers and the company and encourage adherence to sound health and safety practices.

Actively encourage communication and exchange of ideas with all interested parties on matters applicable to health and safety programs benchmarking our performance against the best industry players.

This policy will be regularly reviewed to ensure that the objectives are achieved. Where necessary, it will be reviewed in the light of legislative, industry or organizational needs.  

 

Environmental Policy

BIDCO'S ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

Bidco is firmly committed to the implementation of an environmental management system that will lead to sustainable development and will advance positive impacts on both human health and the environment.

Believing this goal to be fully achievable, at Bidco:

We are totally dedicated to preventing pollution in order to assure protection of human health & the environment and are committed to achieve its continual improvement through the effective operation of the environmental management system.

We will go beyond compliance with all applicable environmental laws and regulations. However, where existing laws and regulations are not adequate we will establish and comply with our own standards.

We will review environmental objectives & targets from time to time in order to minimize resource consumption and improve our environmental performance.

We will review the policy, where necessary, to ensure our activities, products & services are appropriate to nature and has no adverse impacts on human health & the environment.

We will communicate our environmental policy to all our stakeholders.

Energy Policy

 

BIDCO's ENERGY POLICY

Bidco is firmly committed to the implementation of an Energy Management System that will lead to environmental preservation and the most efficient utilization and conservation of energy in all its operations.

Believing this goal to be fully achievable, at Bidco:

We are totally dedicated to minimize the consumption of energy and are committed to continual improvement in energy conservation through the effective operation of the energy management system.

We will review our energy targets from time to time in order to improve our energy performance.

We will monitor, record and evaluate the consumption of energy and enhance efficiency through re-design and implementation of energy efficiency programs.

We will implement and also train our employees in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).

We will review our energy policy, where necessary, to ensure that our activities and processes conform to best practices.

We will communicate our Energy Policy to employees and all our stakeholders.

 

Quality Policy

At Bidco:

We care for our customers and win their loyalty by ensuring that we provide/deliver products/services of specified high quality in time and with a price advantage.

Enhance customer satisfaction through effective operation of a quality management system in accordance with the requirements of ISO 9001:2000 International standard. This calls for continual improvement.

We embrace and lead change through innovative technology in order to provide value added products/services to our customers.

Bidco HIV/ AIDS Policy

Bidco is firmly committed to the implementation of an Aids Policy that recognizes the dignity, safety and well being of staff and that does not discriminate with regard to job applications, hiring, advancement, discharge, compensation, training, or other terms, conditions or privileges of employment

Believing this goal to be fully achievable:

We will be supportive of and make reasonable accommodation for the employee who is medically able to perform his or her job and wishes to do so

We will encourage and support all employees and their dependants to access VCT services and know their status.

We will continue our efforts to be adequately informed about HIV/AIDS and will make this information available to employees on a regular basis.

We will communicate policies and practices to employees in simple, clear and unambiguous terms

We will provide employees with sensitive, accurate and up to date information about risk reduction in their personal lives

We will provide any HIV infected employee and or their dependants with treatment whenever needed, including ARV’s and lab tests, under our medical policy

We will not subject any current or prospective employee to an HIV test against their will, since HIV infection does not necessarily constitute lack of fitness to perform tasks.

We will protect the confidentiality of employee’s medical insurance information

We will not require HIV screening as part of pre-employment or general workplace physical examinations
